"I hope you succeed with that plan. I remember when the owner was
talking about dumping the cart 3 years ago. I was actually traveling
in his area at that time and was going to offer to bring equipment to
dump it for him, but others offered to mail 7800s with DevOS so I didn't bother with it, but apparently nobody sent him any equipment.
I
should mention that my cart dumper may not be 100% safe. It requires
hot-swapping the carts, and while it will probably be OK, there's a
slight chance of damage.
The "Video Game Brain" from RGA is a
multiple cart switchbox that will eliminate the requirement to
hot-swap. These switchboxes are fairly common and can be found for under $20, so for a valuable prototype like GLCB, I'd recommend sending
one along with the dump cart."
I am in the process of modding a FB2 so I will have a self contained unit to ship out. The unit will be enclosed in a Radioshack project box and will include the FB2, a SaveKey, a 4K EPROM (for the dumping program), a cart slot, a selector switch (to switch between firmware and cart slot), and a button wired to the left joystick button input. All the user will need to do is insert the cart, put the selector switch in firmware mode, turn it on, put the selector switch in cart mode, and press the button and less than a minute later the cart is copied to the SK :)
